BLAKELEY WHITE-MCGUIRE, ARTIST IN RESIDENCE

 Fall 2021

Blakeley White-McGuire, the Department of Fine and Performing Arts' Fall 2021 Artist-in-Residence, teaches a class on Graham modern dance technique in the Ralph Arnold Annex dance studio on October 7, 2021. During her time at Loyola University Chicago, White-McGuire engaged with BA Dance students through her unique pedagogy and practice.

Dance majors in DANC 324 Majors Modern III practiced Martha Graham technique and theory twice a week. White-McGuire also worked with each BA Dance student during Friday workshop class, teaching a combined seminar series with a focus on improvisation and other topics.

For the fall Dance concert Nevertheless, She Persisted, Ms. White-McGuire staged two excerpts from Martha Graham’s 1937 tour de force, “Sketches From Chronicle” titled Steps in the Street and Prelude to Action.
