Contributions from Michael Bassett, Philip Dawkins, Elizabeth Ledo, Anne McGravie, Nicholas Patricca, Kelli Strickland, and Wanda Christine celebrate the power of place and the voices of shared experience.
Tartuffe
Written by Molière
Directed by Jonathan Wilson
Feb 22 - Mar 3, 2013
Newhart Family Theatre
In one of his most famous and incisive plays, Molière uses biting wit to juxtapose good and bad, wisdom and folly. A guest at a wealthy estate swindles his way into his host’s inheritance. Orgon, head of the household, becomes obsessed with the trickster Tartuffe and his façade of religious piety, but deception lurks everywhere in the world of this subversive comedy.
Urinetown
Book by Greg Kotis
Music by Mark Hollman
Directed by Mark Lococo
April 12 - 21, 2013
Newhart Family Theatre
Hearts are broken and linens are soiled when a sleazy government alliance with a water regulation company raises fees on private bathrooms, inciting a rebellion that sweeps up Hope – daughter of the company’s CEO – in an attempt to flush out corruption. This quirky musical satire pokes fun at society’s bad habits and musical theatre itself as it poses the question: How far would you go for the privilege to pee?
